Lillian E. Eige, 102, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids. Gathering: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service to follow, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Stasia Fine. Reception following the service.
Lillian was born July 22, 1915, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and Lillian (McNary) Tuffree. She married Gaylerd Eige on October 17, 1937. She was a member of New Disciples Church. Lillian was a homemaker and author. She published three young adult fiction books, Cady, The Kidknapping of Mr. Huey, and Dangling, which won an Edgar Award.
Lillian is survived by her son, Jon Eige (Pam Sutton); daughter, Julie (Randy) Rula; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected in April; and a special niece, Becky Tuffree.
She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Lillian Tuffree; husband, Gaylerd Eige; infant daughter, Eliza Eige; and brother, Laurence Tuffree.
