Lila Mae Luensmann, 93, passed away peacefully at the Good Neighbor Home Society in Manchester, Iowa, on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. All guests are respectfully encouraged to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, July 27, 2020, 11:00 a.m. with the Father Gabriel Anderson officiating. Burial take place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Dyersville, Iowa, following mass. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester is serving the family.
Lila Mae Luensmann was born September 7, 1926, to John and Marcella (Schute) Luensmann of Dyersville. After graduation from Xavier High School in 1944, she went to work at Interstate Power Company in Dubuque as a secretary. In 1949, she moved to Manchester where she became a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and went to work for Tracy and Tracy Attorneys, where she worked for 60+ years until she retired. Lila Mae enjoyed traveling and playing golf at Manchester Golf and Country Club, where she was a member for many years.
Lila Mae is survived by one sister, Margie (George Alan) McDermott of Cascade; brothers, David Luensmann of Westminster, Colorado, Robert A. (Susan) Luensmann of Delhi, Iowa; brothers-in-law, John O’Brien DVM and Tony Broghammer of Manchester, many loving nieces and nephews and special friend Mary Duggan of Manchester.
Lila Mae is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marcella Luensmann; sisters, Mary Luensmann, Irene O’Brien, and Delrose Broghammer; sister-in-law Kathleen Luensmann and special friend Rosie Kehrli.
Memorials may be made to Hills and Dales in Dubuque, Iowa, to help children and young adults with disabilities.
