Lila M. Akers, 74, a resident of Holiday Island, Arkansas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at home following a long illness. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Nelson Chapel of the Springs in Eureka Springs with Father Tom Arackal officiating. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her two daughters, Yvonne Beebe of Carrollton, Texas and Wendy and her husband Tony Jones of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Michelle Thomas of The Colony, Texas, Kendall Kramer of San Diego, California, and Miles Jones of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Raelynn Kramer of San Diego, California, and Aaron Thomas and Nathan Thomas both of The Colony, Texas; her brother, John (Pete) Rouse of Marion, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Rouse of Holiday Island, Arkansas; others relatives; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie; her parents; her lifelong friend, Clarence J. McEnany; and three brothers, Bud Rouse, Mike Rouse and Duane Rouse.

Lila was born November 2, 1929, in Urbana, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer E. and Anna Josephine (Parkhurst) Rouse. She was united in marriage to Freddie Akers. Lila was an accounting assistant at Coe College while living in Cedar Rapids. She attended the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
