Lester "Troy" Gilleland

Lester “Troy” Gilleland, 74, of Alburnett, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Mt. Clark Cemetery. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Central City is assisting the family with arrangements.
Troy was born on October 15, 1949, in Long Beach, California, the son of Lester and Helene (Burnsworth) Gilleland. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned his master’s in electrical engineering. Troy went on to become a software engineer at Rockwell Collins. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping, fixing motors and various pieces of equipment in his garage and shed. Troy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jolene Hill. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his three children, Caleb (Brittney) McKenna of Central City, Amber (Jason) Smith, and Dustin (Lilli) McKenna, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Carlene Boyd of Ventura, California; and special friend, Janet Moser of Manchester, Iowa.
