Leslie C. "Les? Turner, 96, of Manchester, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester following a short illness.
Graveside memorial services will be on at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester. Arrangements are with Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester.
Leslie Charles Turner was born July 29, 1908, near Manchester, the son of Charles N. and Phoebe A. "Myra?(Shaw) Turner. He received his education at the Delaware School. On October 24, 1934, Les was united in marriage to Berniece Whitman in Galena, Illinois. One child, Larry was born to this union. Larry died of polio on August 16, 1946, at the age of six. Les & Berniece farmed in the Delaware County area, raising hogs, dairy cows and corn. In 1954, the couple moved to an acreage near Manchester. Les enjoyed a good game of Euchre and 500, playing bingo, watching television and dancing with his wife. He especially enjoyed visiting with his nieces, nephews and their families.
Les is survived by nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Fannie Wendling of Manchester
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. & Phoebe A. "Myra? Turner; his wife, Berniece Turner; a son, Larry Turner; four sisters and three brothers.
