LeRoy C. Watson, 65, of Hiawatha, Iowa, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, in Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, surrounded by his family. Private family services will be conducted.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Robertson of Mesa, Arizona; his children, Cathy (Brad) Zimmerman and Todd Watson both of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Zimmerman, Rachel (Zach) Williams, Leah Zimmerman, Maddison Watson, Todd Watson II, Dalton Watson and Nicole Popovich; great grandson, Benjamin Bradley Williams; sister, Marla (Stephen) Carnahan of Springville; brothers, Donald (Kim) Hughes, David (Susan) Hughes, Doug (Susan) Hughes, Rick Robertson, Randy (Sherry) Robertson, Ray Robertson and Dennis Robertson all of Mesa, Arizona; and eighteen nieces and nephews.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his father, Orville; and his grandmother, Ann Laker.
Born September 28, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, LeRoy was the son of Orville and Carol Ann (Tischer) Watson. He graduated from Marion High School in 1962. He worked at Century Engineering for 18 years and retired from Longview Fiber after 23 years.
His great-grandson Benjamin was the love of his life. He also enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and was an avid Hawkeye fan.
