Leroy D. Morris, 54, of Independence, formerly of Toddville, died Friday, June 11, 2004, in University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Toddville Free United Methodist Church by the Rev. Rick Gail. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point.
Survivors include his children, Leroy (Dawn) Alan Morris of Toddville, Becky Morris of Cedar Rapids, Brady (Danyal) Morris of Cedar Rapids, Tiffany Morris of Toddville, Ryan Morris of Toddville and Bradly Bennett of Cedar Rapids;his father, Delvin R. Morris of Independence; three sisters. Lanora (Terry) Walker of Sutherland, Oregan, Debra (Chris) Mayfield of Marion and Delores Reid of Walker; four brothers, Irwin Morris of Cedar Rapids, Delvin "Wayne? (Laura) Morris of Center Point, Leland (Lori) Morris of Alburnett and Darrell (Linda) Morris of Center Point; a half-brother, Edwin (Judie) Thomas of Winthrop; and half-sister, Rena (Harold) Saunders of LeClaire, Iowa.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, Dylan Frink, Cody Morris, Colton Moser, Jacob Morris, Kalli Morris, Marissa Olmstead, Brent Olmstead, Brandon Olmstead and Dustin Morris; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Arlyne Morris and a brother-in-law, Lloyd (Deese) Ried.
Leroy was born on October 16, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, to Delvin and Arlyne (Varner) Morris. He served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Gloria Wirth. She preceded Leroy in death. He then married Barb Morris. They later were divorced. Leroy worked in concrete construction at Butters Construction, Brown and Dyer and Enos Brothers for over thirty-five years.
Leroy enjoyed fishing with his grand kids, mushroom hunting, the outdoors and spending time with his family.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Leroy was a man who touched so many lives.
