LeRoy Duane Dunn, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away January 15, 2015 at Unity Point Manor Care, Cedar Rapids under the care of Hospice, Manor Care staff and family. LeRoy was born in Oskaloosa, Kansas, the son of LeRoy and Nellie Dunn on September 26, 1930. Jefferson County Kansas is where LeRoy spent most of his life. As the son of farmers, LeRoy would always return to his love of farming and nature. An avid hunter and naturalist, he would spend much of his life in the woods hunting many different types of wildlife. LeRoy protected the habitat of a multitude of creatures ensuring there were always opportunities for them to exist in concert with his farm. He often joked that he worked at Goodyear, where he spent 42 years, to pay for his farming habit, a farm that hosted a wide variety of livestock, fowl and hounds.

LeRoy was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War in London as a
Teleman 3rd Class. In October of 2012, LeRoy’s Naval service was honored by the Eastern
Iowa Honor Flight when he was flown to Washington DC to visit the Korean War Memorial, as well as many other monuments and memorials. LeRoy often talked of his experiences in the Navy with pride and honor.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Dunn on June 15, 2014, his parents, Roy and Nellie Dunn, Oskaloosa KS, and one daughter, Audrey Rath, Ozawkie KS.
