Leroy E. "Barney? Kula, 82, of Central City, died Monday, April 9, 2007, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Private family graveside service with military honors will be held. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.

Survivors include his children, Leroy D., Dee (Jack) Kintzle, David (Janet), Kevin (fianc? Cherie), Matt (Debbie), Mark (Karen); brothers and sisters, Vivian Rickels, Virgil (Jean) Kula, Robert Kula, Rosemary (Lauren) Zaborski, Dick Kula, Ronald Kula, John Kula, and Mary Jean (Dale) Muller; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Ray and Delbert.

Leroy was born April 15, 1924, the son of Raymond and Emma (Holub) Kula in Anamosa. He attended Anderson one room schoolhouse in rural Linn County. Leroy served with the U.S. Army from September 18, 1943 to January 29, 1946. On February 18, 1947, he married Margaret Came at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg. She died August 3, 1957. Leroy worked at Iowa Manufacturing for five years, was a carpenter, and a farmer.

Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Wapsie Post No. 421 of Central City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor?s choice in Leroy?s memory.
