Leota B. Dettbarn, 88, of Aurora, Iowa died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at her home, after a short illness.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Lenley G. Davis officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Pine View Cemetery, Delaware, Iowa.
Leota Belle Brutsman was born July 31, 1915 in Coggon, Iowa, the daughter of Harry & Gerte (Crouch) Brutsman.
Leota attended school in Delhi, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Glen Russell Dettbarn on November 30, 1935 in Manchester, Iowa. They farmed together in the Delaware County area. In 1979, the couple retired and moved to their acreage in rural Aurora. Glen died on July 14, 1995.
Leota enjoyed her Chihuahua dogs and gardening. She was a member of the Volga River Riders Saddle Club. Leota?s family was her life.
Leota is survived by three sons and their wives, Russell & Lana Dettbarn of Blue Grass, Iowa, Aaron & Carol Dettbarn of Aurora, Iowa, and Arne & Julie Dettbarn of Stanley, Iowa; four daughters, Gloria Cox of Dubuque, Iowa, Daune & Howard Neshiem of Decorah, Iowa, Tracy & Terry Price of Hazelton, Iowa, and Macy & Don Crawford of Arlington, Iowa; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy House of Hopkinton, Iowa; and a brother and his wife, Lester (Gerry) Brutsman of Cherokee, Iowa.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen R. Dettbarn; brother, Louis Brutsman; and three sisters, Doris Hines, Ruby Miles and Esther Ruddlestin.
