Leone Catherine Lala, 80, of Fairfax, formerly of Center Point, died Monday, September 6, 2010, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, following a massive stroke. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by Sr. Linda Bechen, RSM. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 61 years, Robert; her sons, Robin (Anne) of Cedar Rapids, Philip of Marion and Eddie (Sue) of Fairfax; nine grandchildren, Robby Lala, Sarah Lala, Katie (Rich) Jackson, Matthew Lala, Brian (Carissa) Lala, Philip (Laura) Lala, Patrick Lala, Jennifer Lala and Janelle Lala; three great-grandchildren, Deanna, William and Kayleen; sister, Rita (Bob) Benesch of Center Point; and brother, Donald Boyer of Cedar Rapids; She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carole Ann; two brothers, Marvin and Lynn Jr.; and sister, Marie.
Leone was born October 12, 1929, the daughter of Lynn and Eleanor (Wahl) Boyer, in Akron, Colorado. On September 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert Lala in Walker, Iowa. Leone worked as an activities director for Pineview and Heritage Care Centers. She spent her life doing for others and lived for her family.
