Leonard L. Mosher, 98, formerly of Colesburg and Clinton, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Earlville. Additional visitation at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2 at the First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL with burial at 11:00 a.m. in the Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.
Leonard was born July 29, 1910 in Morrison, IL, the son of Harry and Anna (Hayen) Mosher. He attended Clyde School in Morrison, and then worked as a farmhand and for the Pet Milk Company. On November 22, 1939, Leonard was united in marriage to Eloise B. Birt at the Presbyterian Church in Clinton. The couple settled in Morrison. In the early 1940’s, Leonard went to work for John Deere in Moline. In 1949, they moved to Clinton where he worked as a contract carpenter, doing floor refinishing and finish work for Banker & Otten. Eloise died June 26, 1976. Leonard retired at the age of 70 and moved to the Senior Housing in Colesburg in 1989. He moved to the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester in October 2005.
Leonard was a member of the Clinton Methodist Church where he served on the board and was a past member of the Clinton Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing with Eloise, paint-by-numbers and working crossword puzzles. Leonard was a prolific reader and a Chicago Cubs fan.
Leonard is survived by his two children, LaVerne (Paula) Mosher of Manchester and Carol (Dennis) Walthart of Colesburg; four grandchildren, Matthew (Janie) Walthart of Winthrop, Mark Walthart of Colesburg, Scot (Laurel) Mosher of St. Charles, MO, and Pamela Mosher of St. Peters, MO; six great-grandchildren; and a brother Harry, Jr. (Betty) Mosher of Morrison, IL.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna Mosher, his wife, Eloise Mosher; two grandchildren, Todd & Holly Walthart; and two brothers, Elmer and Glenn Mosher.
