Leonard Richard Meinders, 82, a resident of Crestview Acres in Marion, died there Saturday, February 14, 2009, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Sister Carrie Kirsch. Friends may visit one half hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Surviving is his brother, Jack of Cedar Rapids.
Leonard was born October 3, 1926, the son of William and Leona (Stannard) Meinders in Waterloo. He worked at the Younkers Tea Room in Des Moines and upon his retirement moved to Marion to be closer to his brother, Jack.
