Leonard E. Fuchs, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, December 2, 2013, in his home. Services: 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. William B. Harnish. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his children, James (Sandy) Fuchs of Cedar Rapids, Mike (Sandy) Fuchs of Cedar Rapids, David Fuchs of Marion, Carol (Bruce) Avis-Fuchs of Blairstown and Laura (Thomas) Knight of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three sisters, Shirley (John) Duster of Cedar Rapids, Rosemary (Willard) Horak of Cedar Rapids and Linda Sue (Bill) Coates of Oklahoma.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Juanita; and grandson, Ryan Fuchs.
Born August 25, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Leonard was the son of Frank and Mabel (Poyer) Fuchs. On September 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Juanita Frye. She died September 10, 2011. Leonard worked at Stemler Motors before joining the U.S. Army and serving in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for area auto dealers before going to work at LeFebure where he retired in 1993.
Leonard was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles Club, VFW and the International Association of Machinists and later UAW. He loved cars and enjoyed NASCAR racing.
