Leonard Booth, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, May 19, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include Mary Booth of Cedar Rapids; children, Teresa (Joe) Krivanek, Laura Booth, and James (Patty) Booth, all of Cedar Rapids; eleven, grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Joseph Reiter of Cedar Falls, and Robert Reiter of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger (Phyllis) Booth; sister-in-law, Kay Reiter; and nephew, Joe Reiter

Leonard was born on March 17, 1930, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of George and Ethel (Struckman) Booth. He graduated from Geneseo High School in 1949. Leonard served in the United States Navy from 1949-1957, when he returned to Iowa. On December 24, 1951 he married Mary Paydon. He worked at Killian’s, Iowa Pipe and Supply then for Quaker Oats as a pipe fitter for 22 years, retiring in 1995. Leonard was a charter of the Asbury United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Scout Master for Troop 101 in Cedar Rapids, where he helped build and service at Camp Wakonda. Leonard was a volunteer for the Linn County Special Police Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling to historical places and gardening. He was a Lifetime Master Gardener.
