Leona A. Ickes, 80, of 2421 3rd Avenue, Marion, died at her home. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2005, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, where a Vigil Service will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by recitation of the Rosary.

Survivors include her children, Liz (Ken) Reynolds of Sierra Vista, Arizona, James (Becky Hayes) Ickes of Marion, Steve Ickes of Marion, John (Debra) Ickes of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Joseph (Kelly) Ickes of Marion, and Patrick (Amy Stoffel) Ickes of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Amanda, Peter, Sean, Thomas and Jeffrey; a sister, Erma Wiszmann of Davenport; and a brother, Mathias (Alice) Wiszmann of Apache Junction, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; a sister, Mary Frances Wiszmann; and two brothers, Harold and James Wiszmann.

Leona was born August 13, 1925, the daughter of Mathias and Hermina (Krejci) Wiszmann in Exeter, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Roy J. Ickes on January 29, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa. Roy died April 16, 1995. Leona was an active and devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she belonged to St. Theresa Circle, taught religious education, and served her community through her faith. Leona was a loving mother and grandmother, and absolutely adored her grandchildren.
