Leona Humble, 96, of Anamosa (formerly of Springville and Waubeek), passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Jones Regional Hospital in Anamosa, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Private family inurnment at Jordan’s Grove Cemetery, Central City. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa.
Leona is survived by her children, Samuel (Janet) Humble of Luzerne, Iowa, Minnie (Tom) Holland of Springville, Faye Remington of Marion, Gloria Fowler of Anamosa and George Humble of Coggon; twenty grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son, Garry Humble; parents, John Gincky and Irene (Besler) Bush; grandparents, John and May Besler; and several siblings.
Leona was born February 19, 1919 in Delaware County, the daughter of John Gincky and Irene Besler. She was raised by her grandparents, John and Hannah May Besler. Leona married George R. Humble on November 21, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He passed away in 1978.
She was a member of the Springville Presbyterian Church and volunteered during elections in Waubeek. She was an active volunteer for many years at the Abbe Center in the beauty shop.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Springville Presbyterian Church in Leona’s memory.
