Leona Carver, 89, of Center Point, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at St. John?s Lutheran Church, Center Point, by the Rev. David Hansen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold; her sons, Don Carver and wife Lila and Tom Carver and wife Suzanne, all of Center Point; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; an infant son; a granddaughter, Patti Davis; and two sisters, Bessie McNeal and Gladys Morgan.
Leona was born December 6, 1913, the daughter of Joe and Lena Popenhagen Reid, in Atkins, Iowa. On August 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to Arnold Carver in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A loving wife and mother, Leona was a member of the St. John?s Lutheran Church in Center Point. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
