Leona M. Brock, 93, resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Crest Cemetery in rural Jesup.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlys Brown and her husband William of Marion; her sister, Verna Johnson of Independence; three grandchildren, David Brown and wife Jan of Marion, Julie Knockle and husband Bret of Cedar Rapids, and Marianne Casas and husband Jimmy of Bettendorf; and 7 great-grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Wesley Brown, Allison Knockle, Karlee Knockle, A.J. Casas, Miraya Casas, and Marisa Casas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents, Charley and Maggie Hepker; and four brothers, Harold, Dale, Lyle, and Malcolm Hepker.
Leona was born on August 4, 1913, to Charley and Maggie (Miller) Hepker near Brandon, Iowa. She married Clarence A. Brock on April 9, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Clarence passed away in 2003. Leona was a homemaker, a babysitter to many children, and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
