Leoda Florence Mohr, 80, of Marion, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Services will be held at a later date in Missouri.

Survivors include her son, Steven (Betty) Mohr, her daughters, Margaret Mohr, Marilynn (Neil) Coonrod and Marsha Riley, and son, Richard Mohr Jr. Also surviving are her sister, Evelyn Baker, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Mohr Sr.; her mother, Lora E. Anderson; her father, Dewey E. Baber; and her sister, Martha Evans.

Lea was born April 4, 1932, the daughter of Dewey and Lora (Hopkins) Baber in Kansas City, Kansas. Lea attended Wyondotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas. She married Richard Charles Mohr Sr. on November 15, 1951. They lived in Ramsgate, England following Dick’s service in the Korean War. Lea and Dick returned to the Kansas City area where they raised 5 children with most of that time in Independence, Missouri. Lea worked as a switchboard operator for the Missouri Pacific railroad until her retirement in 1982. After retirement, Lea and Dick moved to Trimble, Missouri. Lea moved from Trimble back to Kansas City, Missouri, then to McAllen, Texas, and Payson, Arizona before settling in Marion, Iowa, where she lived up to the time of her death.

Lea was a woman of great faith who loved reading the Bible, puzzles, beading, crafts and travel. Her travels included Butchart Gardens, the Florida Keys, the Smokey Mountains, Scotland and Ireland. Lea is remembered as a person who put others before herself.
