Leo Elmer Peters, 88, of Forsyth, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Missouri. Funeral Services: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, Iowa. Burial: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Urbana, Iowa, with military honors. Services conducted by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Michael Peters of Lincoln, Nebraska, Gregory Peters of Rochester, Minnesota, Debra Johnson of Shakopee, Minnesota and Patricia Karas of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Peters; and brother, Rex Peters.
Leo was born June 14, 1919, in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Esther Peters. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Leo retired in 1981 from IBM in Rochester, Minnesota, where he worked as an electrical engineer. Leo has lived in the Stone and Taney County area for 20 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Ozarks Catholic Church in Forsyth and the VFW Post #5168 also Forsyth, Missouri.
