Leo E. Horak, 84, formerly of Coggon, and a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Del Bear. Burial: Center Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 - 7 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his children, Larry (Linda) Horak of Marion, Janet (John) Walderbach of Ely and Ken (Beth) Horak of Andover, Minnesota; two sisters, Margaret Johnston of Davenport and Jane (Leo) Hickey of Independence; two brothers, Willard (Rose Mary) Horak of Center Point and Alfred Horak of Missouri; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; a daughter, Betty Jane; two brothers, George and Elmer; and a grandson, John Walderbach Jr.
Leo was born October 15, 1921, in Center Point, Iowa, the son of William F. and Mary Rose (Vorak) Horak. He was united in marriage to Norma Kramer on December 22, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. She died July 3, 1997. He farmed in the Center Point area most of his life. Leo was the former owner of Leo?s Tavern in Coggon and retired in 1980 from Cedar Rapids Inc.
