Lenard was born April 23, 1918, near Iron Hill in Jackson County. He was the son of Ernest and Sadie Streets. He received his early education in rural school in Cedar County. Lenard married Relda Russell September 30, 1939, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua. They started farming in the Whittier area and later moved to a farm near Morley where they farmed until 1970. Lenard then had an excavating business and moved to Anamosa in 1978. He retired in 1983 but grew tired of retirement. He was happiest when he had grease under his finger nails and loved to repair motors. His last few years he helped repair motors at Al Edens and mowed lawn at Fawn Creek Homes for Fred Williams. He also considered it a challenge to keep the teenagers mopeds running.
A memorial fund has been established in Lenard?s memory.
