Lena Ailene Mercer, 75, of Gladbrook, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Graveside Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2008, at Union Grove Cemetery in Gladbrook. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include three children, Carol Walton of Logan, New Mexico, Rhonda (David) Wiley of Marion, and Russell (Karen) Mercer of Holland; four grandsons; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; and several sisters and brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother; and a sister.
Ailene was born December 26, 1932, in Southwest, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Iva Minnick. She married (Russell) Junior Mercer on September 29, 1951. Ailene and Junior raised their family in Gladbrook. She loved her family, her flower gardens, and Oscar, her dog.
