Leland D. Morris, 55, of Alburnett, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at his home, following a long illness. Services: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Rick Gail. Visitation: Friday, March 11, 2005 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, Toddville at a later date.

Survivors include his wife, Lorie Morris of Alburnett; his father, Delvin Morris of Independence; six shared children, Tom (Alica) Morris of Troy Mills, Tammy (Greg) Miller of Coggon, Brian (Diana) Morris of Rowley, Jeffery Howard of Hiawatha, Gary Potts of Cedar Rapids and Wesley (Erica) Potts of Hanford, CA; ten shared grandchildren; one shared great-grandchild; three brothers, Irwin (Diane) Morris of Marion, Wayne (Laura) Morris and Darrell (Linda) Morris both of Center Point; three sisters, Delores Reid of Independence, Debra (Chris) Mayfield of Marion and Lanora (Terry) Walker of Utah; a half-brother, Edwin (Judy) Thompson of Quasqueton; and a half-sister, Rena (Harold) Sanders of LeClair.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlyne Morris; a twin brother, Leroy; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Reid.

Leland was born October 16, 1949, the son of Delvin and Arlyne (Varner) Morris, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked for 34 years as a railroad engineer for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 2002. On May 13, 1989, Leland was united in marriage to Lorie Potts in Toddville. Leland was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. He loved hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his family in Christ.
