Leland Carold Millard, 85 of Alburnett, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. A visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately after. The burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Leland was born on December 20, 1938, to the late Alvin and Naomi (Edaburn) Millard in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Alburnett High School. Leland proudly served his country during the Cold War. He was stationed in Germany and won soldier of the month on multiple occasions. He married Wilma Jean Sweeney on December 15, 1960, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She preceded him in death in 1986. He married Shirley Dean Millard on March 27, 1987, in Clifty, Kentucky. She preceded him in death in 2020. He retired from Rockwell-Collins as a machinist in 2001. After his retirement, he worked at Advanced Auto Parts in Marion. Lee was a member of the Alburnett Christian Church.
Leland is survived by his children, Dr. Thomas Millard (Charme) of Morrison, Illinois, Terri Brokel of Springville, Iowa; grandchildren, Luke Millard, Michaela Millard, Colby VanAntwerp (Patience), Aubrie Brokel, Collin Brokel; and three great-grandchildren. Chance, Dazzalynn, and Raiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Naomi Millard, his wife Jean Millard, and his second wife Shirley Millard.
Lee was a member of the Antique Automobile Club, and his passion was restoring Model A cars. He completed building one and was working on a second. He loved to travel on outings with the Model A club and going on trips with his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Association.
