Leland H. Carson, 81, died Saturday, November 27, 2004, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Leo Anderson. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; three daughters, Linda Neustel and husband Bill of Neosho, Missouri, Kathry Neustel and husband Frank of Central City and Nancy Carson of Marion; a son, James Carson of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren, Jeffery Carson, Tracie Abbott and husband Matthew, Matthew Neustel and wife Pamela, Joshua Carson and wife Rebecca and Molly Carson; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Taylor Neustel, Jacob Carson, Mason Abbott and Jackson Carson; two brothers, Joe Carson and Vernon Carson; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Carson; his sister, Ruby Kelsey; and his brother, Jerry Carson.
Leland was born January 4, 1923, the son of G. Elmer and Lavina Mae (Winistorfer) Carson near Edgar, Wisconsin. On January 17, 1947, he married Evelyn M. Comreid at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Leland was a truly dedicated farmer for over forty years in the Alburnett/Central City area. He never met a stranger, he loved to visit, he "marched to his own drummer? and thoroughly enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona for many years. He will truly be missed.
