Lela Ruby George

Lela Ruby George, 77, of 1424 Franklin Avenue, West Branch, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, following a short illness. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish.
Survivors include her children, Gary George of California, Sandra (Dwayne) Stepanek of West Branch and Steven (Chris) George of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Calvin (Olivia) Kennedy of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Marilyn Domine of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry; a brother, Chuck; and sisters, Kate and Nina.
Ruby was born June 30, 1927, daughter of Thomas and Lela Sauer Kennedy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On March 30, 1947, she was united in marriage to Frank George in Cedar Rapids. He died June 6, 1986. For 60 years, Ruby worked in clerical data entry for many companies. A loving mother and grandmother with many talents, she enjoyed cooking, bingo and spending time with her friends.
