Lawrence J. Quint, 87, of Ryan died at home Saturday, January 17, 2009 following a sudden illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan by Revs. Dennis Quint and John Flaherty. Family will greet friends from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2009 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa where there will be a 2:00 p.m. Forester Rosary Service and a 7:30 Scripture Service. Friends may call one hour before service at the church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Ryan.
Lawrence Quint was born January 17, 1922 in Worthington, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Bonert) Quint. The family moved to Ryan when Lawrence was 16. Following his parents’ deaths, Lawrence lived with his brother, Vernon and wife, Catherine Quint and family for 54 years..
Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters where he held office of Trustee for many years. He worked as a hired farm hand for area farmers. Lawrence enjoyed playing cards, hiking and shuffleboard in Arizona.
Lawrence is survived by his brother; Vernon and his wife, Catherine Quint of Ryan, and their family, Father Dennis Quint, Karen Quint, Don and Lisa Quint and Dick and Jane Quint; other siblings,Clarence Quint and Loretta Vaske of Manchester and Catherine (John) McQuillen of Marion and one sister-in-law, Mary Quint of Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Quint; a sister, Mary (Jerry) Vaske; a brother, Sylvester Quint; inlaws, Eleanor Quint and Art Vaske
