LaWanda B. Krumrey, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, met her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 10, 2007, following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dave King. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, John; daughter, Gayla (John) Huston of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Kelley (Mike) Cantonwine of Urbandale and Scott (Laura) Huston of Brooklyn, New York; and a great granddaughter, Arwen Cantonwine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Wilbur and Henry.
LaWanda was born March 18, 1923, in Stiritz, Illinois, the daughter of Rufus and Anna (Niemeyer) Phipps. On March 3, 1946, in Johnston City, Illinois she was united in marriage to John Krumrey. She worked in banking as a teller. Lawanda and John lived in Belleville, Illinois for 57 years before moving to Cedar Rapids in 2002. She was a charter and former member of the Belleville First Church of the Nazarene and a current member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Rapids. LaWanda was a great cook and loved spending time with her family.
