Lavonne Nystrom Jones
June 22, 1919 — January 9, 2004
LaVonne Nystrom Jones, 84, formerly of Marion, died Friday, January 9, 2004, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, followed by private burial services at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Mike Morgan officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Suanne Huffman and husband Max of Marion; a son, Steven Jones and wife Alta of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Julie Huffman, Mace Huffman and wife Misty, and Nicole and Karyn Jones; two great-grandchildren, Breanna and Zachary Huffman; and a sister, Vivian Rowse and husband Leslie of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ned.
LaVonne was born June 22, 1919, in Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Alvin A. and Lucy Lindgren Nystrom. She was united in marriage to Ned T. Jones on May 25, 1940. Ned died June 29, 2001. LaVonne was a graduate of Boone High School and worked for many years as a secretary at Sheets, Forrest, Draper Insurance Company in Marion. LaVonne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.
LaVonne was an avid quilter and enjoyed needlework.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr.?s Bell, Stutts and Jones. They also want to acknowledge the loving care that was provided by Northbrook Manor and Village Ridge.
