Lavina A. Claus, 87, of Manchester died October 9, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 am, Wednesday, October 13, 2010 by Rev Dick Gaul at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester. Visitation: 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 12, where there will be a 6:00 p.m. Wake Service, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester, IA. Additional visitation: one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Burial: St. Mary Cemetery, Manchester, IA

Lavina was born May 19, 1923 in Coggon the daughter of James A. and Mary Agnes (Moroney) Keegan. She graduated from Coggon High School in 1940. On May 26, 1956, Lavina was united in marriage to LaVern Gordon Claus at St. Mary Catholic Church. LaVern died in 1971.

Lavina was a member of St. Mary’ Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, sewing and taking care of the grandkids.

Lavina is survived by two children, Carolyn (Ken) Milroy of Manchester and Barbara (David) Reth of Delhi; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Freiburger, Al Freiburger, Jeffrey (Angie) Freiburger, Jamie Freiburger, Amy (Chris) Heims, Sarah (Jason) Kluesner, Sam (Kristin) Milroy; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vincent Keegan; two sisters, M. Veronica Kester and Catherine (George) McCusker and many nieces and nephews.

Lavina was preceded in death by her husband, LaVern Claus; and her parents, James and Mary Keegan; a sister, Rita Keegan; and a brother-in-law, Francis Kester.
