LaVerne Jerome Sabers was born on June 18th, 1928, in South Dakota. He married his “beautiful bride” Ida Rose Wessels on August 30, 1950, in St. Boniface Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they were married 67 years. They were blessed with 10 children, 26 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
LaVerne lived a faithful life with his family on farms in Delhi, Buck Creek, and Earlville. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Earlville. Vernie was a humble but proud husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, father-in-law, neighbor, friend, and a good provider that we were all honored to have in our lives. His favorite moments were enjoying time with his wife and his family, playing cards, farming, fishing, and taking care of his Cub Cadet.
LaVerne was a hard-working, loyal family man that will be forever loved and missed by the love of his life, Ida Rose; his children, Carolyn (deceased) (Chris) Roling, Barb (Doug) DeShaw, Pat Sabers, Loras Sabers (DeeAnn Sullivan), Mae (Kelly) Salow, Bob (Kathy) Sabers, Jane Hendricks (Ric Hillers), Joyce (Brian) Moorman, Ron Sabers, Laurie Sabers; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also has one remaining sister, Velma Frericks.
LaVerne will be reunited with his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Sabers; in-laws, Ed and Dorothy Wessels; a daughter, Carolyn Roling; a son-in-law, Dale Feldman; three brothers and six sisters.
A special thank you to Jill Bushman and Hospice of Comfort for their support during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
