Laverne Sam Chapman

LaVerne “Sam” Chapman, 77, of Central City, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2012 at Jordan’s Grove Church, Central City, by Pastor Steve Russell. The Family will greet friends 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Jordan’s Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; children, Randy (Valerie) Chapman of Cedar Rapids, Sheri Chapman and Dan Emig of Ely, Jan Chapman of Ely, and Gary Chapman of Marion; and four grandchildren, Matt and Devin Chapman, Rachael Emig, and Cassy Chapman.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Laverne was born October 27, 1934 in Des Moines, the son of Myrtle (Kruger) Chapman. He married Norma Coonfare on September 25, 1955 in Edgewood. He worked with Farmstead Foods and was a member of Jordan’s Grove Church.
Memorials may be directed to North Linn Ambulance or Jordan’s Grove Church in LaVerne’s memory.
