LaVerl Chapman, 77, of Greeley, Iowa died peacefully Sunday, March 5, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital of congestive heart failure. Visitation: 4:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, and one hour prior the service on Friday at the church. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Earlville United Parish, Earlville by Rev. Jill Mack. Burial: Fairview Cemetery, Earlville.
LaVerl was born April 23, 1939, in Anamosa, the son of Clarence and Myrtle (Parsons) Chapman. LaVerl married Theresa Lemmer, and together they had two children. She later passed away. LaVerl married Joyvonne Norte on June 11, 1977. LaVerl spent his life farming, and worked as an industrial maintenance mechanic for over 40 years at ATI - Paladin. His passion was country music. He enjoyed playing in the country band, The Western Kings and loved teaching his children and grand-children to play music. He also spent time with his horses.
LaVerl is survived by his wife, Joyvonne of Greeley; his children, Sandy (Rick) Ross of Manchester, Connie (Rick) Tibbott of Manchester, Charlie (Alissa) Chapman of Marion, Julie (Frank) Thurn of Manchester; grandchildren, Christina, Jeremy, Bob, Ian, Ava, Jesse, Beau, Jake, Pam, Jessie, and Rick; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Mason, Zander, and Phoenix; and siblings, LeVerne (Delores) Chapman, Leonard (Karen) Chapman, Harold (Joanie) Chapman, Lyle (Sandra) Chapman, Lester (Marilyn) Chapman, and Denny (Shelly) Chapman.
LaVerl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glen, sister, Alberta, nephews, Allen and Mike; and niece, Roxanne.
