Laurie Sue Hartley
January 22, 1958 — September 11, 2003
Laurie S. Hartley, 45, of Center Point, Iowa, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, in M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas, after a three year long battle with cancer. Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003, at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; two daughters, Elizabeth of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Samantha at home; four brothers, David Sturgeon, Mark Sturgeon, both of Center Point, James (Linda) Sturgeon of Urbana, Iowa, and Paul Sturgeon of Marion, Iowa; and four sisters, Linda (Vernon) Tuttle of Kalona, Iowa, Pam (Larry) Franklin of Springville, Iowa, Jeanie Momii of Houston, Texas, and Bev Farrington of Fairview, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laurie was born January 22, 1958, the daughter of James and Ruby Varner Sturgeon, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On February 28, 1981, she married Howard Hartley. Laurie served in the Iowa National Guard and worked as an inspector for Rockwell. She will be truly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Laurie.
