Laurence D. Ritze, 89, of Center Point, died Monday morning, December 31, 2007, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point by the Rev. John Caughron. Burial: Center Point Cemetery, Center Point. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, where Masonic Rites will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Elnora; his children, Arlene Ritze of Cedar Rapids, Rita Carman of Seattle, Washington, Susan (Kenneth) Hearn of Cedar Rapids and Larry Ritze of Center Point; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bonnie Scott in 1993; and two brothers, Herbert Ritze and Owen Ritze.

Born July 9, 1918, in Lafayette, Iowa, the son of Clinton Harlow and Esta (Smith) Ritze, he graduated from Center Point High School in 1936. On November 18, 1942, he married Elnora Burrell, in Kahoka, Missouri. Laurence farmed and retired from Cargill in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of First Christian Church in Center Point and was a fifty year member of Benton City Masonic Lodge.

Masonic rites will be performed by Benton City Masonic Lodge.
