Laura Michelle (Sarsfield) Hulsebus, 46, of Troy Mills, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her family. The family will greet friends from 12 - 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where a Celebration of Laura’s life will begin at 2 p.m.
Laura was born on February 1, 1978, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Orvil and Vicki (Nellis) Sarsfield. She graduated high school through Kirkwood Community College. On May 21, 2011, Laura was united in marriage to Jeffrey Joseph Hulsebus in Central City, Iowa. She was employed in several different aspects of healthcare, including as a Licensed Massage Therapist. Laura was very proud of her work as a Firefighter and EMT in Altoona, Iowa, and as an Airline Hostess for World Airways, where they transported military troops all over the world. She was a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) and True Impact Outdoors (TIO), who serves military and first responder veterans by offering outdoor activities, as well as several other charitable organizations. Laura loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Laura is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 13 years, Jeff Hulsebus of Troy Mills; three children, Nick (Dena) Hulsebus of Troy Mills, Amber Burkhart of Troy Mills, and Taylor (Cole Bellach) McDonald of Quasqueton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Charlotte, Macie, Remington, and Granger; parents, Orvil and Vicki Sarsfield of Urbandale, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Larena Nellis Waukee, Iowa; two brothers, Chad (Heidi) Sarsfield of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ed (Crystal) Sarsfield of Olin, Iowa; mother-in-law, Rose (Jack) Bradley of Marion; and a host of extended family members including nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Orvil Sr. and Gladys Sarsfield; maternal grandfather, Darrell “Bud” Nellis; and nephew, Skylar Kraft.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Laura’s memory may be directed to the family to be designated later.
