Laura Graybill, 85, of Manchester, Iowa, died Saturday morning, October 12, 2002, at her home, after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Rev. David H. Wagner, Sr. will officiate. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 and one hour before the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, Iowa.
Laura was born on November 8, 1916, in Onieda, Iowa, the daughter of William & Emma (Millenkamp) Goldsworthy. She graduated from Onieda High School in 1934 where she played basketball. She worked as a domestic for area farm families and in the Onieda Hotel which her parents owned. On October 12, 1936, Laura was united in marriage to H. Wayne Graybill in Manchester. The couple farmed south of Manchester before moving in 1947 to a farm southwest of Dundee. In 1949, they moved into the town of Dundee. Laura worked for Kline?s Feed & Produce, then in 1957, she became a cook for the public schools. In 1980, they moved to Manchester. Herman passed away on January 2, 1989. Laura retired from the West Delaware Schools in 1997 at the age of 80.
Laura is survived by her two sons and their wives, John & Gayle Graybill and James & Pat Graybill, all of Manchester, Iowa; six grandchildren, Brian (Kay) Graybill, Kevin (Ronda) Graybill, Debbie (Dan) Ryan, Carey (Joyce) Graybill, Vicky (Kermit) Gunderson and Troy (Michelle) Graybill; thirteen great-grandchildren;Neil, Kristin, Adam, Brett, Danielle, Kaitlyn, Jared, Tyler, Laura, Kirk, Jay, Stacie and Colin. One great-great granddaughter, Chryschelle Ryan; one sister, Alice White; and nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, H. Wayne Graybill;her parents, William & Emma Goldsworthy; one brother-in-law, Clyde White; and two grandchildren, Scott and Shawn Graybill.
