Larry D. Teigland, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center, Iowa City, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids by Pastor Randy Kasch and Pastor Patricia Decker. Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2016, at the church. Burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Randall, Iowa, with military rites. Arrangements made by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, June; daughter, Angie (Tim) ODell, of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Garry (Char) Teigland of Washington, Illinois and Diane (Gary) Clark of Deephaven, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Cindy Teigland of Memphis, Tennessee; and nieces and nephews, Vicki Teigland, Melissa and Aaron Clark, Sydney Teigland, Brittney and Taylor Bryant; his dog, Annie; and grand-dogs, Jack and Stella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Brian; and sister-in-law, Michele Teigland.
Larry was born on October 27, 1943 in Moline, Illinois, son of Richard and Virginia (Mein) Teigland. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and Korea. Larry was united in marriage to June Nelson on March 26, 1967, in Randall, Iowa. He was a recovered alcoholic for 23 years. Larry loved dogs, music and singing in the choir. He was an avid Hawkeye fan. Larry enjoyed spending time at the Iowa Veterans Home, where he played bingo, and participated in choir and day trips. Larry also enjoyed his time and work at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
