Larry M. Swyter, 55, of 1416 Oakland Road N.E., Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at home following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2004, at St. Ludmila?s Catholic Church. Inurnment: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military rites by American Legion Hanford Post #5. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Grace Walter of Cedar Rapids, Maria Freerksen and husband Brian of Cedar Rapids, and Elizabeth Swyter and fiancée Jason Jenney of Cedar Rapids; mother of the children, Virginia Swyter of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Akia Walter, Maurisha Walter, Jensen Freerksen, Seth Freerksen and Julian Jenney; his brothers, Bruce Swyter and wife Evelyn of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Swyter of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Linda Barrett and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry was born December 11, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Morris and Patricia (Mann) Swyter. Larry worked as a stock clerk at Walmart. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and Desert Storm and was a member of American Legion Hanford Post #5. Larry was an avid NASCAR Fan.
