Larry Wynn Baumgartner, 63, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 29, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Bob Dagit. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include his mother, Arlene of Cedar Rapids; his children, Scott (Lindsey) of Moline and Todd of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Kaiya, Shannon and Allianuna; and brother, Gary (Donna) of Waterloo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elwyn.
Larry was born December 5, 1948, the son of Elwyn and Arlene (Coleman) Baumgartner, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Larry married Carol Volesky in June 1970. They later divorced. Larry owned and operated restaurants and also owned a roadside motel in Cedar Rapids.
An avid reader, Larry also enjoyed golfing, old movies, tennis and basketball.
