LaDonna Mae Kilts, 80, of 240 11th Street N.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, August 29, 2008, in Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Cedar Hills Community Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Leonard Ranson and Rev. Kent Landhuis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry (Connie) Kilts of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Kathy) Kilts of Cedar Rapids and Raymond (Shirley) Kilts of Fairfax; a very special nephew, Charles H. (Denise) Bammert III; six grandchildren, Kimberly O’Hara, Carrie Fortney, Donald Kilts, Jr., Melissa Erdahl, Emily Benter and Allison Groff; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers, Gerald (Pat) Kilts, Allan (Evelyn) Kilts and Robert (Anita) Sells all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Delores Zerbee and Alyce Jane (Steve) Kalous both of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and two “special grandchildren”, Sadie and Jacob White.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Darlene Barnes and Clarice Bammert; brother-in-law, William Barnes; and nephew, Bobby Sells.
LaDonna was born May 27, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Clarence and Garnet (Sells) Kilts. She was a longtime employee of Wagners Printers in Cedar Rapids where she worked as a bindery woman.
LaDonna was a member of Cedar Hills Community Church in Cedar Rapids where she volunteered for the church’s Aegon Volunteers program. She enjoyed getting together with Wagners Printers retirees, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching old television shows and movies and reading the newspaper front to back.
