Kyle Levi Sawyer, 49, of Center Point, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at his mother’s home, of cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: Davis Cemetery, Center Point.
Survivors include his mother, Yvette Sawyer of Center Point; children, Hunter Sawyer of Center Point, and Raven (Collin) Lais of Evans Mills, New York; siblings, Donette (Dick) White of Des Moines, Iowa, Chad Sawyer of Center Point, and Kevin Rolfs of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephew, Heather and Derek White both of Des Moines and Samantha Sawyer of Center Point.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Sawyer.
Kyle was born on January 20, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Donald “Buzz” and Yvette (Wheeler) Sawyer. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School and joined the Air Force, where he was trained as a Flight Simulator Specialist. Kyle was a member and administrator of the Gulf Coast Archery (GCA) from which he developed many friendships. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his dogs, Chevy and Saber. Kyle also had a great knowledge of cars and loved to talk to his friends about them. He took great pride in the fact that he raised Hunter and Raven and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. Kyle will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
