Kristina Gaye "Tina? Foss, 54, of Mount Vernon died Friday, July 22, 2005, in her home, following a courageous battle with colon cancer. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Christine Wagner-Hecht and Rev. Matthew Muters. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, and 10 a.m. to service time Monday. Burial: Scandinavian Cemetery in Rockford, Illinois, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2005.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Bobe; her mother, Jean Foss of Machesney Park, Illinois; a brother, Daniel Foss and wife Donna of Janesville, Wisconsin; and a sister, Petria Milroy and husband Terry of Loves Park, Illinois.
Also surviving are nephews, Bob Mainock and Taylor Milroy; great-nephew, Bradley Mainock; a special family friend, Bill McConnaughy; and a niece Daniella Northall Milroy, who was Tina?s godchild. She was preceded in death by her father, John.
Tina was born the daughter of John and Jean Northall Foss on January 12, 1951, in Rockford, Illinois. She received an associate's degree from Rock Valley College, a bachelor?s degree from Drake University, a master?s degree from University of Iowa; and an associate?s degree in Horticulture from Kirkwood Community College. On July 24, 1982, she was united in marriage to Larry Bobe at West Branch. Tina taught instrumental music and was a band director for twenty-five years, teaching in Bedford, West Branch, Lisbon, Clarence-Lowden and in the Marion schools, until retiring in 2001.
She was a charter member of Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon, a member of Iowa Bandmasters Association and the Iowa Alliance for Arts and Education. She also taught private music lessions from her home for many years.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tina?s memory.
