Korey Sawma, 34, of Center Point, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point assisted the family.
Korey was born April 12, 1989, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ronald Sawma and Amy (Horn) Penley. He worked in construction. Korey loved music and the outdoors. He also enjoyed training dogs and leatherworking.
Survivors include his father, Ron (Rose) Sawma of Niagara Falls, New York; mother, Amy (Dan) Penley of Center Point; children, Korey Sawma Jr. and Athena Sawma; grandparents, Keith and Lois Nanke of Cedar Rapids; grandfather, Charles Horn of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Scarlett Clark of Waterloo, Iowa, Bryce Clark of Ankeny, Iowa, and Toni (Brian) Snyder of Niagara Falls; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Frank W. Sawma Sr.; grandmother, Cecilia Horn; and grandparents, John and Dorothy Strope.
