Kirk A. Skilling, 63, of Marion, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Kirk was born July 10, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard “Dick” and Marilyn (Wilhelmi) Skilling. He was a graduate of Marion High School and went on to become a master plumber/pipefitter for 44 years, retiring with Modern Piping in 2017. On May 1, 1987, at Squaw Creek Park in Marion, Kirk was united in marriage to Pam Stancel. His pastimes included fishing, trapping, turkey hunting and feeding wildlife. Kirk enjoyed nature walks with his wife, Pam, and dog, Cooper, visiting with co-workers, families, and the farmers he trapped for.
He is survived by his wife, Pam of Marion; three sons, Brandt Skilling of Cedar Falls, Blaine (Cecilia) Moyer of Van Meter, and Hunter Skilling of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Whitney (Derek) Larimer of Marion; grandchildren, Dylan, Hendrix, Lennon, Mariah and Sloane; sister, Amy (Ken) Stracener of Lansing; in-laws, Leo and Jean Stancel of Marion; his beloved pets, Cooper and Finnegan.
Kirk was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Scott Skilling.
