Kevin D. Schmidt, 56, of Delhi, died November 10, 2011 following a sudden illness.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until service time Tuesday. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi, Iowa.
Kevin was born December 11, 1954 in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Arthur J. and Regina (O’Rourke) Schmidt. Following graduation from Maquoketa Valley High School, Kevin entered the United States Air Force and spent the majority of his tour of duty in England. It is here that Kevin developed his appreciation for soccer. Kevin then attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated with a degree in accounting. The majority of his working career was in manufacturing and cost accounting which he thoroughly enjoyed.
He married Resa Main on September 1, 1979 at First Assembly of God in Des Moines, IA; which resulted in his pride and joy, Allison. They were later divorced.
Kevin’s most recent employer, was by Trapeze ITS, (Constellation Software) in Cedar Rapids, IA. Kevin’s priorities were the Lord, Allison, baseball and work – in that order.
Kevin is survived by his daughter, Allison Schmidt of San Diego; his mother, Regina Schmidt of Dubuque; siblings, Doug (Julie) Schmidt of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Tom (Kathrin) Schmidt of Iowa City, Jane (Mike) Ruplinger, of Iowa City, Colleen (Gerald) Hepnar of Rapid City, S.D.; one nephew, Jedidiah (Kimberly) Schmidt and their three children; and two nieces; Ashleigh and Lauren Hepnar.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Schmidt in 1979.
