Kevin Michael Ishman
September 4, 1969 — September 16, 2022
Kevin Michael Ishman, 53, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 16th, 2022. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now at peace and no longer in pain. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. If you are not able to make it to the visitation, Kevin would want you to enjoy a cold Busch Light in his honor. He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.
Kevin was born on September 4, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Ron and Elaine (Rogness) Ishman. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 1987 and later graduated from Kirkwood Community College. Kevin was married to Lori Pitzen in 1991, and together they had two children, Tyler and Taylor. They later divorced. In 2003, he married Julie Collins and together they had a daughter, Isabelle. Kevin and Julie later divorced.
Kevin "Big Ish" was a big guy, but given the chance to get to know him, he was a softie with a big heart that cared deeply for those he knew. He loved his three kids, his family, spicy food and cheering for the Raiders and Hawkeyes. Kevin was a true craftsman and could usually be found in his garage working on his latest woodworking project with a Busch Light. He was always willing to build something for his family or friends. Kevin also had strong dislike for onions. Heaven help if he ever found one in or near his food.
Throughout his life, Kevin endured seven back surgeries starting in his mid-twenties. This was never able to slow him down until recently. He worked as a Maintenance Manager at Centro in North Liberty and most recently ADM.
Kevin is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Ron and Elaine Ishman of Marion; children, Tyler (Samantha) Ishman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Taylor (Jack) Rooney of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Isabelle Ishman of Solon, Iowa; brothers, Scott Ishman of Marion and Brett (Melissa) Ishman of South Elgin, Illinois; nieces and nephews, Kaylee (Brad) Schmidt, Hunter Ishman, Logan Ishman, and Emerson Ishman; aunts, uncles, cousins and close friend, Chris Bennett of Swisher, Iowa, who was like family to him.
