Kermit W. Shafer

Rev. Kermit W. Shafer, 98, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the care center. Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Pastor Ken Koske. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are three children, Janice, Keith and Esther Shafer.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; three wives; three sisters; and a son, Wendell.
Kermit was born September 12, 1909, the son of Orley and Clara (Moore) Shafer in Bantry, North Dakota. In 1936, Kermit married Helen Johnson, the mother of his children. They later divorced. He then married Ruth Weymer, she preceded him in death. Kermit’s third wife was Hazel McBeth McConnell, he married her in 1992. She died in 2003. Kermit was a Baptist minister since 1942.
Kermit was a member of Twin Pines Baptist Church.
